Isen Mulang Cultural Festival
Isen Mulang is a
Cultural Festival event in Central Kalimantan. This event held to recognize the
cultural and ethnic diversity in Central Kalimantan. Isen Mulang means “Never give up” or “Never retreat” in the Dayak
Ngaju language. It is the motto of the province of Central Kalimantan,
which was formed on May 23th 1957. It is become part of people's lives in
Central Kalimantan from the past until now. Isen Mulang Cultural Festival is
regularly held on May to celebrate the birthday of Central Kalimantan and that
included in the annual agenda of the Tourism Office. Then, On 25th of
May 2015 Palangkaraya became overall winner among the thirteen districts in the
event of a cultural festival in Central Kalimantan. In Isen Mulang Cultural
Festival there are a variety of events. Starting from a lively opening in big
square, downtown Palangkaraya. After that, at the opening there was a parade
followed by thousands of people from a variety of districts in Central
Kalimantan. For example, there is also a contest of traditional food, dance
competitions, traditional games and a selection of sons / daughters tourism.
Cultural Festival Isen Mulang has strong local support, but seems to be little
known outside of Central Kalimantan.
Even though, it is not only showcases Dayak culture, but also cultural
tribes of migrants from Central Java, East Java and Bali. They participated in
a parade and show cultural diversity. In conclusion, Isen Mulang Cultural
Festival is annual agenda that unique to showcase the diversity
in Central Kalimantan.
